A very warm welcome to OSO Youth Theatre Programme 2025, a perfect introduction to theatre for 6-11 year olds. Take part in fun and imaginative weekly sessions in an encouraging environment. Our sessions place the students at the forefront, supporting them in confidence building, listening, working together, self-expression and learning new skills. Each week we will explore different approaches to drama through theatre games, voice, movement, storytelling, ensemble work, devising and taking inspiration from different artistic mediums.
These classes will lead to an annual summer performance. There will also be opportunities for informal demonstrations of work throughout the year.
Summer Term 2025
Join us for a 9 week adventure down the rabbit-hole! On Monday nights your students will explore the whimsical world of Alice in Wonderland, putting together a workshop performance to be shared with friends and family on the final day of class. Week 1 will consist of games, imaginative world-building, and reading the script so we get can to know the story and each other. Week 2 we will begin to dive into scene work, explore the bodies and voices of their characters, and begin to put the text on its feet. As the weeks go on we will continue building the play, incorporating imaginative exercises, sometimes splitting into smaller groups and sometimes working as a whole ensemble. Towards the end of the work-shop we will put together a “work in progress” performance to share what we’ve learnt and developed. Each day will consist of a 10-15 minute warmup, followed by devising games and rehearsal.
Through Alice in Wonderland, a story of finding oneself and staying curious in the midst a baffling world, we will focus on promoting confidence and imagination, while also developing more technical skills in text, voice and movement to tell a story.
“We’re all mad here.” We hope to see you join us!!
Sessions will be led by Eileen MacDonald
